About

How this massage fits everyday muscle tension

Swedish massage uses broad, flowing strokes, kneading, and pressure changes across soft tissue. The goal is comfortable bodywork for tension, stress, and stiffness, not a promise to correct every source of pain. Our process starts with a health history and a short discussion of your goals. We ask where tension affects you, what pressure feels comfortable, and whether any symptoms need a different form of care. Risks and failure points matter. Too much pressure can increase soreness, and massage may not fit symptoms linked to an injury or a condition that needs evaluation. We check your response during treatment and adjust the approach when your body signals discomfort. A free consultation can help you decide whether this service fits your needs. We explain care options before treatment, so you know what the session is intended to address.

What Swedish Massage Covers

Swedish massage is a hands-on treatment that uses flowing strokes and adjustable pressure to address everyday muscle tension.

  • Swedish massage differs from deep tissue massage because it generally uses lighter, flowing pressure instead of sustained deep pressure.
  • The service scope includes a health history review, comfort checks, focused bodywork, and discussion of related care options.
Process

How we carry out a swedish massage visit

1

Review your health history

We ask about current symptoms, past injuries, activity, and goals before hands-on care begins.

2

Set pressure and focus areas

You tell us which areas feel tense and what pressure feels comfortable. We use that information to shape the session.

3

Apply flowing soft tissue work

We use broad strokes, kneading, and measured pressure across appropriate muscle areas while checking your comfort.

4

Check your response

We ask how the treated areas feel and note signs such as rising tenderness, sharp pain, or unusual discomfort.

5

Discuss the next care choice

After treatment, we explain whether continued massage, soft tissue therapy, or chiropractic evaluation better fits your symptoms. We can also provide a free estimate.

What to prepare before swedish massage

A short, honest intake helps us choose safe pressure and the right focus areas.

  • Share current pain, stiffness, or unusual symptoms before treatment.
  • Tell us about recent accidents, sports injuries, or workplace injuries.
  • Mention health conditions, past surgeries, or care you are receiving.
  • Describe the pressure you prefer and speak up if discomfort increases.

Edit: still first class treatment each visit! Love that my wellbeing is so important to y’all! Edit: Have been multiple times now and the service is as good as the first time! Great customer service. Great atmosphere. I was greeted immediately upon arrival. The young lady at the front (Catherine) was very professional. When I was taken back by was helped by another young lady, Courtney, and seen by Dr Keating took time to find out what was hurting and did an amazing job helping to fix it. I felt that everyone there treated it as more than “just a job” and treated the patients as more than just a number.

Questions about swedish massage and muscle tension

What is a Swedish massage like for a first visit?

A first visit includes a health history review, goal discussion, comfort check, and flowing hands-on work. You describe where tension sits and how much pressure feels right. We adjust the session as your body responds. Speak up if pressure feels sharp, too strong, or uncomfortable, because pushing through pain can worsen soreness.

Who provides Swedish Massage at the McDonough office?

Arrowhead Clinic Chiropractor McDonough provides Swedish Massage at its McDonough, Georgia office. Our team reviews your symptoms and goals before treatment. We also explain related chiropractic care and soft tissue therapy when those options fit your needs. A free consultation gives you a chance to discuss the service before deciding on care.

How does Swedish massage differ from deep tissue massage?

Swedish massage generally uses lighter, flowing pressure than deep tissue massage. Broad strokes and kneading suit people seeking relaxation or help with everyday tension. Deep pressure is not automatically better for soreness. We ask about tenderness and adjust the session so the work stays within your comfort.

What should I do if massage makes an area more painful?

Increasing pain means the pressure or treatment choice needs review. Tell our team during the session if discomfort becomes sharp, intense, or unusual. We can reduce pressure, stop work on that area, and discuss whether chiropractic evaluation or another care option fits better. Do not treat rising pain as a goal of massage.

Can Swedish massage help a frozen shoulder?

Swedish massage may not address the cause of a frozen shoulder by itself. Shoulder stiffness can involve movement limits that need evaluation and a broader care plan. Tell us how far the shoulder moves and which motions hurt. We can discuss whether massage fits your symptoms or whether another assessment should come first.

How often should I receive this type of massage?

Massage frequency depends on your symptoms, goals, activity, and response to pressure. We do not set one schedule for every person. Our team reviews how your muscles feel after care and discusses a plan that fits your condition. Regular maintenance may support ongoing wellness, but it should not replace evaluation for changing pain.

When Customers Call Us About Swedish Massage

1

Tension after desk and daily activity

Long periods of sitting or repeated daily tasks can leave the neck, shoulders, or back feeling tight. Swedish massage focuses on comfortable soft tissue work, but the pressure should match your symptoms and tolerance. Bring a clear account of where tension builds, and our team can review your goals before discussing treatment in McDonough.

2

Tenderness after an accident

Pain or stiffness after a car accident, sports injury, or workplace injury needs more care than a routine relaxation session. Massage pressure may not suit every stage of recovery, especially when symptoms are sharp or changing. Tell us what happened and when symptoms began, so we can discuss an evaluation and suitable care options.

3

First visit with pressure concerns

A first massage can feel uncertain when you do not know how much pressure is appropriate. We review your health history, ask about sensitive areas, and adjust the work as your body responds. Share your comfort limits before treatment, then speak up during the session if tenderness or pain increases.
